UNEP Definition of cleaner production:
Cleaner Production is the continuous application of an integrated preventive
environmental strategy to processes, products, and services to increase
overall efficiency, and reduce risks to humans and the environment.

Cleaner Production can be applied to the processes used in any industry,
to products themselves and to various services provided in society.

Cleaner Production is defined as the continuous application of an integrated preventive environmental strategy to any activities from upstream to downstream relating to processes, products, and services to increase efficiency of natural resource use, prevent environmental pollution and reduce waste at source so that minimize risks to human health and safety and environmental destruction.

Economic benefits of Cleaner Production are a more effective financing of pollution control. Systematic prevention of waste and pollution can increase efficiency in processes and improve product quality.

Cleaner production can be achieved among others through:
  1. Improve Internal Management efforts (Housekeeping)
  2. Intensify inspection process
  3. Recycling of materials
  4. Modification of existing equipment
